(I meant to write about FedEx while I was working there, but while I was working there I was too darn tired! Let me try now and see how far I get)
Wed I got laid off from FedEx. Last Monday (my last day and yes, the day before Christmas) Vinnie came over and asked me if I was going to stick around after the holidays. I replied, “if you had asked me that a week ago, I would have said no in a heartbeat…now I’m not so sure.” At that point I had been working for FedEx for a month. It took me that long to warm up to it. Honestly, I’m surprised I warmed up to it at all. I distinctly remember one day when I went into work and wanted to turn around and walk back out! That was about a week into it. And now here I am feeling sorrow for the job ending. Somewhere along the way it got under my skin. Actually it’s not so much an ‘it’ because it’s the people that got under my skin…people that I only worked with 10% of the time!
I should start from the beginning but the beginning seems so long ago. Everything happened so fast. I walked into the terminal to inquire about the position and the next thing I know I’m making an appointment for a DOT physical and drug test. Okay, it was more like I walked in and was shown to a computer unto which I was to fill out an application. I had barely said 3 words to Jason- the fellow in charge of hiring. When I finished with the computer I was given some papers to sign then was told to come back tomorrow take a road test and watch some videos. I just rolled with it…and eventually rolled right into a week of training.
